Medical Mycology – Incredibly Important
Medical Mycology – Incredibly Important
"Medical mycology is an incredibly important niche field," says Professor Dr. Ilse Denise Jacobsen from Jena. As the chair of MYK 2024 and secretary of the German-speaking Mycological Society e.V., she emphasizes that the case reports clearly show that this field involves people for whom the research in medical mycology can be life-saving.
In collaboration with the only German research network FungiNet, which specifically focuses on human-pathogenic fungi, projects from basic research as well as those with clinical applications will be presented. This provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about the latest basic research, including from scientists who do not usually attend MYK. Conversely, it offers basic researchers a chance to connect with clinicians and gain an overview of what is currently relevant in mycology.
The program includes five internationally renowned keynote speakers as well as the latest developments in the clinic, diagnostics, therapy, and pathogenesis of superficial and invasive mycoses.
MYK 2024 is a forum for interdisciplinary encounters, exchange of experiences, and the transfer of knowledge and ideas. It is also particularly exciting for young scientists, whose development is a priority for the organizers.
The German-speaking Mycological Society e.V. (DMykG) and Transregio FungiNet warmly invite all mycologists and those interested in mycology to attend MYK 2024 in Jena.
