Professor (W1 with tenure track to W2) for Molecular Medicine of Life-threatening Infections

The candidate will have an outstanding doctorate in the field of Biomedicine and will ideally have existing international research cooperations. The applicants are expected to demonstrate their potential to produce international publications and their potential for a quality teaching and supervising of undergraduate students, graduates, and doctoral candidates. Experience in acquisition of third-party funding would be an asset. It would be desirable that he/she strengthens the research focus ’Sepsis and infection’ of the Medical Faculty and the SFB/TRR 124 ’FungiNet’ of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

For this post, all candidates are encouraged to apply who have a university degree in a life science, ability to teach and a special competence in scientific work. The length of their doctoral studies and employment period should not exceed six years (nine years after a degree in medicine) in total. The successful candidate will be employed for four years first. On a successful completion of the first review, the contract will be extended for additional two years. On a successful completion of the final review after six years of employment, the position will be promoted to a professorship paid on salary scale W2 without additional selection procedure.
